typical sarah style i suck at keeping this thing updated for all of my three followers! :) lets see update on my life, not much has changed, chuggin away at work at Pratt, finally done there December 22nd!! i will be celebrating. where i’m working after that, your guess is as good as mine. please jesus let something come along.

a little holiday tid bit:

was able to make it back to Kansas TWICE , scratch that THREE times already. one was not for something i wanted to go back for, but the other two were. made it back to Manhattan to watch the slaughtering of KSU vs OU. whatever, we are going to the cotton bowl, i couldn’t care less about that game :)

the other time was for thanksgiving, got to see the fam and have a feast fit for a king at my uncles in Hutch. it was great to see everyone, and play with baby Jace, the cutest kid on the planet. but really. he is sooooo cute.

for christmas, i will be making the long journey back to God’s country as well. i fly out of LGA at the ASS CRACK of dawn. 6:07 am to be exact. i’d like to point out that the sun is not up at that point. therefore i will not be in a normal human functioning mode. zombie mode kicks in if i’m up before 10 am. yes that means at work i am in autopilot for the first hour. BUT because i fly out that early i’ll get to wichita in good time. thank heaven i won’t have a 5.5 hr ride home, only 1.5.

christmas will rock this year because my bro and his family as well as my sister and hers will all be there! first time in years we will all be together, it will be epic. wisdom teeth are coming out as well, stupid.

NYE will be another wonderful event, that is if i don’t look like Theodore from the chipmunks. get to spend it back up in the northeastern part of ks, good ole’ manhattan. i get to see my best friends, nothing could spoil that night, at all. sparkly dresses, champagne, and lots of dumb choices.

then its finally on the cotton bowl down in dallas with mama bear. it will be such a great break.

$When I first got to New York, I was full of excitement and anticipation about my future here. I had two suitcases and a huge dream. I was lucky enough to have a friend who was so gracious to let me sublet his apartment, thank goodness!! However, I had no job. Therefore I had a lot of free time on my hands right at first, so I did lots of fun CHEAP things. Laura (who has been a New Yorker now for a year) and I went on the hunt for things. We took a stroll on the Brooklyn Bridge, rowed a boat in Central Park, and of course did sight-seeing all over the city. One thing I was not really prepared for was the heat, and dealing that humidity. Holy shit, you would walk out of your apartment and immediately be cover head to toe in sweat, and you could forget about your hair, I was an instant frizz-ball and looked like a poodle. Did I mention I had no air conditioner the first month I was here? I took three to four showers a night just to cool down. I hacked into the neighbors internet and caught up on 30 Rock, Rescue Me, and four other shows. So I was a broke, sweaty mess, but damnit, I knew my tv. :) I lived in Brooklyn for about a month when I was lucky enough to land an awesome apartment with my friend Len in Astoria, NY. We were so fortunate to land this place, some how we were first on a list of about 15 people. It is in a great location, super safe, and really close to the train. Down the street from a Best Buy, Home Depot, and Target. I’ll post pics and a little more info on it later :) I have a temp job that I got through Atrium, a temp agency. I started mid-July and I am still at that job. It is in Brooklyn at Pratt Institute. I work as a receptionist in the Health and Counseling Office. Its a full-time 9-5 job. If I have learned one thing about this job, it is that I do NOT belong behind a desk doing thinkless work. While it is a great thing to have a steady paycheck, the creativeness in me is screaming to be done with it. The people I work with are wonderful though, they welcomed me with open arms, and have been a key to helping me make the adjustment to my new life out here. Pratt is a gorgeous campus full of stylish, skinny smokers, making me question my choice of clothes every day. Because of this, I am always on the lookout for new ideas. My closet was downsized to a tiny, tiny fraction of what it used to be, limiting my choice of outfit options. I am updating this blog while at work and have now begun to get some dirty looks from my co-worker, so that’s all for the update for now. <3$

i’m no writter

This is my first attempt at a blog. So, please try and bare with me while I learn the ropes. I decided to do this after being persuaded by my mother to keep some type of journal about my wonderful adventures in this crazy, beautiful city. She thinks it would make very interesting reading material for my children and grandchildren someday. My mother tends to be right about a lot of things, so I decided to take her advice. But, instead of wrtiting (a little cavemenesque in this digital age) I chose to start a blog, that way I can not only save my hand from cramping, but I can post pictures and videos as well! Here’s to hoping I post some interesting things and don’t sound like a complete moron. :)
